This 75m high-rise with its distinctive pyramid roofscape is completely clad with white granite and features porphyry from North Queensland on its pedestrian areas.

History: 

This 75m high concrete building was constructed between 2002 and 2004 and incorporates 16 floors above ground level.

The design architect was Robin Gibson and Partners and Bligh Voller Nield Architecture. 33 Charlotte Street is adjacent to 111 George Street and compliments that with a distinctive pyramid roofscape, recessed entrances and an open foyer linked to 111 George Street.

A plaza links both 33 Charlotte and 111 George Street sites.

Building stones

The concrete building has a complete white granite cladding on the facade. The white fine to medium-grained granite has distinctive black biotite and translucent grey quartz with massive white feldspar; The source of this stone may be Spain.

The stone covering the footpath, plaza, outside stairs and thoroughfares is a bluish-grey and oxidised brown quartz porphyry from the Rogina quarries (Formation:Boonmoo Volcanic Subgroup), near Irvinebank and Herberton (commercial name: Australian Porphyry).
