A bronze memorial in memory of the Queensland heroes who fell in the Second South African War 1899 - 1902.

History: 

The Boer War statue was cast in bronze in England and was erected in Brisbane in 1919. As Anzac Square had not been constructed at that time, the memorial stood in front on the corner of Edward and Turbot Streets. The statue was transferred to Anzac Square prior to Anzac Day in 1939.

Building materials:

The pedestal of this Monument comprises a unique hypabyssal microgranite which originated from western New South Wales. The walls towards the Adelaide Street end of Anzac square comprise colorful variations of Brisbane Tuff (porphyry).
