This multiple design and construction award winning pedestrian and cycle bridge was named \'Kurilpa\' Bridge at its opening in October 2009, after the Aboriginal word for the South Brisbane district it links to the Brisbane CBD\'s Tank Street.
Kurilpa is the local Aboriginal expression meaning \'a place for water rats\'.
Originally named the Tank Street Bridge, it features a magnificent programmable LED light show system that is mostly solar powered.
Kurilpa Bridge was built by Baulderstone Constructions with Arup Engineers and Cox Rayner Architects.
