The North Sydney Heritage Centre, Level 1 in Stanton Library, is committed to documenting the social and cultural heritage of the local area, with a particular focus on the built environment.
The Heritage Centre collects and makes available primary and secondary material for a wide range of historical research, including family history, house histories (884KB) and heritage reports.
The Centre houses the David Earle Local Studies Collection, the Merle Coppell Oral History Collection, and a significant proportion of the North Sydney Council Archives. Some of this material is also available online in our Heritage Databases.
Historical Services staff provide assistance with research, mount regular exhibitions, conduct public activities for History and Heritage weeks and manage our local museums, Don Bank Museum and Sextons Cottage at St Thomas\' Rest Park.
Staff are available to assist with enquiries at the Heritage Centre during the following hours: Monday-Saturday 1-5pm.
Appointments can be made with Historical Services staff outside these times. Please ask at the Information Desk for assistance when the Local Studies Reference Desk is closed.
