Seaside movie location, Cleveland Point
Cleveland Point was a prime location for the filming of ocean-going scenes in The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader in 2010.
The elaborate 60-piece set for the Dawn Treader itself was originally located at Warner Bros Studios at Coomera on the Gold Coast, about 50km from Cleveland.
Various scenes were filmed in the studio then the Dawn Trader was disassembled and move to Cleveland Point, chosen because about 270-degrees of vision delivered an ocean horizon line.
A special area at the tip of Cleveland Point was constructed for the sea-going effects on dry land and that area has been retained by Redland City Council so it could be used for future movies.
At Cleveland Point, the Dawn Treader was set on a 'gimbal' platform which reproduced the necessary pitching and rolling of the vessel against a genuine sea horizon line, under open skies and natural sunlight.
